Opening hours, admission fees



According to the extraordinary legal order related to the spread of the coronavirus, the member institutions and exhibition spaces of the Budapest History Museum will be closed for 30 days from 11 November 2020.

The exhibitions cannot be visited, the library and other research services do not accept researchers. Planned programs are canceled or moved to online platforms. Pre-purchased tickets can be refunded on the platform of purchase (,

The museum is closed on Mondays.

All individual adult tickets bought in the Kiscell Museum entitles you to a one-time admission to the CASTLE MUSEUM (Buda Castle Building E, 1014 Budapest, Szent György tér 2.) OR the AQUINCUM MUSEUM (1031 Budapest, Szentendrei út 135.), within 30 days after purchase.
You can pay by cash or credit card at the ticket office.
Adults 1.600 HUF
Students (age 6–26) 800 HUF
Seniors (age 62–70) 800 HUF
Student groups (min. 10 people) 400 HUF / person
Museum education activity for students (min. 10 - max. 30 people) 800 HUF / person






Guided tours (plus the entrance fee)
Guided tour in Hungarian (for max. 15 people)                       7.000 HUF / group
Guided tour in a foreign language (for max. 15 people) 14.000 HUF / group






Discount for adult visitors with children: 50 % discount from the full price ticket for two adults (parents, grandparents, close relatives) arriving to the museum with two or more children. For children, entry is free until the age of 6, for youngsters from 6 till 26 the entrance fee is 600 HUF (except the museum education activities).



  • children under 6 years
  • seniors over 70 years
  • disabled visitors with one companion per person
  • visitors with a valid teacher card
  • students of Fine Art, Applied Art, Art History, History and Archeology and Travel Guide with a valid student card
  • on the last Saturday of every month visitors under 26 years and one or two adults accompanying youngsters under the age of 18
  • all visitors on the following Hungarian national holidays: 15 March, 20 August, and 23 October
  • visitors with a valid ICOM card
  • visitors holding a valid national or international press cards
  • visitors holding a professional travel guide card if accompanying a group of visitors
  • visitors holding a Budapest Card,

Under these conditions one can visit all exhibitions of the museum for free, but for museum events (museum educational activity, Night of the Museums etc.) the actual ticket price has to be paid.
