Fashion and Tradition. Pictures and Objects from the Workshops of Disappearing Crafts and Contemporary Designers
The exhibition organized by Ildikó Simonovics in 2008 provided an insight into the contemporary acquisitions of the textile collection of the Kiscell Museum. The show introduced eight outstanding master craftsmen of Budapest (shoe-maker, glove-maker, artitifical flower maker, hatter, dressmaker and tailor, orthopedic corsetry and bandage maker, shirt-maker), together with eight leading Hungarian fashion designers and designing teams (Emília Anda, the Artista, Aquanauta, Daalarna, Je Suis Belle, Dóra Konsánszky, Nanushka, Use). In addition to workshop photos, the special tools of the crafts, some „masterpieces” kept in the museum collections or borrowed from the masters, individual designer costumes and the fashion shows presenting them gave an insight into the world of fashion design past and present.
