FreeCikli. The Cultural History of Cycling
The exhibition presented the cultural history of cycling through graphic works, photos, guidebooks, posters, leaflets, by-laws, newsreel footages, and nearly a hundred old and modern bicycles from the second half of the 19th century to our day. The material was grouped around three themes. The first centred on the appearance of the “iron steed” in the capital, the second outlined the connections between women’s emancipation and cycling in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The third section concerned with the contemporary problems and with cycling as a sport was housed in the crypt of the church. The exhibition was curated by Anikó B. Nagy, Loránd Balla and Roland Perényi.
