Drawing Lecture on the Roof. Budapest Schools Photographed by Mór Erdélyi
The exhibition staged in the Oratory of the Kiscell Museum put Mór Erdélyi’s photos of Budapest schools on display. Mór Erdélyi took several thousand photos of the streets, squares, buildings and inhabitants of the capital city, including the district elementary and secondary schools built within the school-construction programme under the mayorship of István Bárczy (1909-1912). Erdélyi perpetuated the buildings from cellar to attic. His pictures are important architecture and education historical documents because they help to reconstruct that-time classrooms, offices, gymnasiums and school laboratories. The photos also give an idea of school life in those days. The curator of the exhibition was Zsuzsanna Demeter.
